So much water

It’s everywhere! The ditches are flooded more than ever before; the roads are flooded in places that have never been flooded before. All the furniture blew off the deck and all the plants are sideways. Water just keeps coming in the side garage door, no matter how much we mop up. Electricity was off yesterday for 6½ hours and this morning for another 4½.

I’m going to do a little computer catching up and then go in before it gets any darker. The sun never shown today, it was always like early morning all day long. The tides are exceptional, they say, because of the moon cycle so things should get worse tonight and tomorrow morning again. I can tell it’s raining worse now than a few minutes ago when I came to my office.

On the bright side I have managed to get a lot of crocheting done, as long as it was light enough to see. I made a Christmas washcloth and have been working on a gray crochet hat I started a couple of days ago…it’s really tight small stitches and is taking a while to complete. I am pleased about that. I tried to get Dan to help me but it’s a waste of time. He won’t try.

I did get him to go up in the attic and together we got a lot of stuff more organized than it’s been in years. Dan fancies himself an organizer, but I think his track record speaks for itself. We had a couple of close calls today, where he wanted to stop and examine each and every item in a trunk or two. But I was able to get him just to make a mental note that thus-and-such items were in that trunk and move on. Yes, we got a lot accomplished.

I checked my email earlier in the day and discovered that I’d made another sale; I also checked on the organ for sale on Ebay – a lot of hits, but no bids yet. I feel like it will happen when the ad starts running out.
Mom’s birthday was yesterday. Obviously with the weather so bad we have delayed her celebration until it’s a lot better, with a focus on SeaCrest on Sunday. We’ll have to wait and see if things change by then. I decided to take her my present this morning. They were still asleep so I left it on the counter. She’s hinted about flannel pjs lately; my thinking was that with the electricity out she may want to put those babies on today. I love flannel.
