First I want to tell you that the old dead tree has finally hit the dirt, falling last night during the latest storm. It was dark when I came outside this morning; I didn’t even notice it until Danny popped his head in and told me. We waded thru the water and I took a few pictures.
And I’ll have you know that I have stood the poor old pepper plants up one more time. (The left is from Nov. 19; the right is from Dec. 2) Yes they look a little bedraggled, but you’d look like that too if every time you stuck your head up the wind took it off again!
I’d started to clean my poor little dolly before thinking about taking her “before” picture. You can see she was an absolute mess after living in an attic for over 20 years. I guess the nasty oily film that got on her was a furnace by-product of some kind.
She still needs her hair washed, and her arms and hips tightened, and I see a little more scrubbing on one shoe is called for, but over all she’s done well for a little old lady. Her dress cleaned up nicely with a little bleach, not as yellow and certainly not as oily. It tore a little in back, she’s happy with it.
We moved Dan’s little desk from the building into one of our large closets in the house. Since the entire house seems to be a warehouse, with stuff from Big Mama’s and Melissa’s moving around, plus all the plants inside, ya-da, ya-da,ya-da.
Now I have more room in the building and we’ve decided that anything that’s either going to the thrift store online or being donated now has a place for temporary storage. That way, we’ll eventually be able to see only the things we want to keep inside the house. The theory looked good on paper; it remains to be seen whether it really works.
Maybe then I’ll get my Christmas stuff out of the attic. Since Dan hurt his back we’ve been holding off some. He’s still sore from where Dr. Barr moved some things around on him, but he’s improving each day. In the meantime, I found this pathetic little Christmas tree, a reject from a hospital by the looks of the ornaments left on it. It has what looks like pink breast cancer ribbon pins and pink feathers. There’s a white string of lights (not sure if they work) and it comes apart into 2 sections – so it’ll fit in your car?!?I haven’t even bothered straightening anything out on it yet. But if we don’t get to the attic this might be it, so I thought I’d share.
Remember, it’s the thought that counts
