We’re making progress around here. It’s been the slowest decorating season I’ve ever had, but we’re finally getting through it. All the ornaments (that we’re doing) are on the tree. Some of the generic, no sentimental ones have been set aside to go away next year. New ornaments have been put on the tree along with the favored ones from years past. I have no idea how we’ll get them all boxed again after the holidays.
A wrapping center has been set up on the kitchen table. I’m attempting to use up some of the old paper and tissue that we’ve saved year after year. I’m almost to the point where I’d like nothing better than to chuck it all and buy just what we need for next year when next year arrives. But no, I can’t see just throwing away stuff for the sake of convenience, not after living a recycling life for so long!
It wouldn’t take so long to get anything done except for the fact that I have to keep stopping and sitting down. Between the back and the ol’ hips I have a pretty short shelf life. I started wrapping presents this morning before church. I have made a small dent in the pile.
I still have a few cloth items to wrap. I’m starting with my largest to use those boxes first. I have plenty of small boxes, but I gave away several and used some for shipping this past year. I think we’ll manage though. I haven’t bought tons of stuff like I have in years past; the piles of stuff to wrap are smaller, so are the gifts.
It’s supposed to be the thought that counts, not the size or the amount. The most important thing is that we’re all together, bound together by loving hearts and common interests with just enough diversity to make things interesting. In that department we’re good to go!
