Birds

While we have bluebirds now they are few and far between, especially when it comes to stopping and sitting a while. It’s so cold I hesitate to stand too close to the window to watch them too.

The bluebird was standing on a SPARROW-LESS BLUEBIRD BOX that Hubster made for me. The starlings won’t mess with the rectangular opening. They might fly around but it really boggles them.

We’ve had snowbirds for the last few days. We always love watching them. I wonder how long before the snow will come after they get here.

Both my favorites, the Wrens and Chickadees, are certainly busy scooping up food. The crazy wrens seem like they are scoping out nest sites already. We have one of those ceramic old-timey nesting jars that we bought at Williamsburg about 15 years ago. It’s mounting on one of our out buildings. I keep telling Hubster we need to move it. Maybe this will be the year. For the last two years the wrens have made nests in the greenhouse, usually discovered after we’d closed the door for an impending storm. Maybe this year we will get lucky and get everything in order so our feathered friends will find the perfect nest site.
