Are you ready for Christmas?

I don't even know if I'm ready or not. I've been working and for a change, Danny's been home. In fact, I came home yesterday and HE had finished decorating the Christmas tree!! It looks real good too! He used lots of the "fun" ornaments, little ornaments like stuffed dolls, bells, wooden cut-outs, etc. Last year Lindsey was in charge. She has more sophisticated tastes and went for what she called the "ball tree" look. Needless to say, it had only ball ornaments on it, and even those were of certain colors.

Yesterday I drove Mom out to the medical center behind DePaul Hospital. They just hate to drive on that interstate anymore. I ain't crazy about it myself. The cars whiz by doing 80 sometimes! I'm doing 65 and they pass me like I'm standing still. But I plod along and do my thing, praying to God every minute that some dumb ass doesn't plow into me!

The entire trip was a waste of time. We got over there and the good people at the Chesapeake Lifecare center had NOT faxed over the test results, even though they told Mom they were doing it the same afternoon that she took the test. We sat at the doctor's office for an hour while everyone looked for the fax, phoned everyone in the Chesapeake hospital area, and all to no avail. We finally went home, the doctor said he'd call later with the results.

Now the good Doc has an accent and that's one reason I've been going to Mom's appointments with her - to translate or rather interpret. I don't have too much problem hearing and understanding him, but Mom misses some of what he says because of her hearing, so it gets muddled up at the get-go. Anyway, Doc called her while I was at work. She called me after I got home, and today I need to call the Doc and see what he said so I can tell her!

Now if it was so easy that he could just call her, why didn't he just do that in the beginning instead of making her come all the way out there for him to chat with?!!

Daddy went too, just to make sure Mom didn't fall or wobble while walking. She is dealing with dizziness, so you never know when it will be a factor. But he is coming down with a cold and being around sick folks didn't help. Since it's a breathing specialist, they keep the temps real low in there; they were both cold the whole time we were there. I was glad to get back into our sun-warmed little car too.

Anyway, I'm not sure if we're ready for Christmas. Mom didn't even get to go shopping this year. She just made it last Saturday for her first hair appointment in a month! I never did get anything for Danny, but he's hard to shop for, especially when he's standing there. We'll do something later. Didn't get to go to church on Sunday, since the church we were going to is believing in stuff I don't believe in, so we stayed home.
The best part about Christmas will actually be Christmas eve, when Danny, Me, Melissa and Lindsey will go out for our quiet steak dinner together. Then we'll open gifts when we come back home after looking at lights. (I've noticed there aren't as many this year; guess folks are cutting back on their December electric bill).

Not too many gifts as last year, but we'll laugh and have a great time like we always do. It's the best part before the other parts.
