Saturday Shopping

I don’t like to shop anymore. But now I’ve begun my hunt for the perfect Mother of the Bride outfit. I figure by starting early I won’t be in a bind later on. I guess it’s almost too early. Most of the stores don’t even have their MOB stuff out yet. They are all about Prom.

My shopping experience is hampered by the fact that I don’t want to end up wearing a dress. I haven’t worn a dress of any kind except for a nightgown since I had my hips replaced in 2000. I keep hearing everyone tell me about all these rules that just HAVE to be followed, the protocol of weddings, and I must say, I’m already sick of hearing it. Apparently no one will like me if I disobey the rules. The fact that what I’m wearing holds more weight then whether I attend just doesn’t make sense to me. I guess I’m just not a real big player in the society world. I like not being a player.

Today’s mission was to scout around again, seeking that perfect outfit, again, with self-imposed restrictions. I will wear pants. But oh, my gosh, not black pants. That would totally be sinful to do so, especially as the MOB. So I have brown pants. I am still not totally decided if I will actually wear them or take them back. But the bottom line is that as of today, I have brown pants. I’d really been leaning towards blue or pink or green. We’ll see as the time gets closer and the delivery trucks get to their respective stores before July.
After Mom’s hair appointment we went on our hunt, visiting a couple of consignment shops along the way to the mall. After we totally wore ourselves out and I was “over” trying on clothes we treated ourselves to lunch at Olive Garden. On our way out we saw my cousin Wanda, her daughter, Kimberly and 9 month old granddaughter, Hannah, as well as her mother, Ruth. We haven’t seen them since the last family reunion in 2004. (Mom didn’t even see them then, as she was in the hospital at the time). It was good to see everyone again.
Sat 005

After getting home I tried to lay down to recuperate some; of course the phone rang just as I was drifting off. That ended that. So I worked on the computer until the phone rang again and I had to go to the shop to get Dan to pick up. Then the dog cried and I felt sorry for her and let her run around a while.

That brings us to now. It’s 5pm and we’re going to NC to get supper. The Community center is having Chicken & Dumplings! It’ll probably be too salty again, but C’est la vie!

Ya’ll have a good weekend – I’m hungry and leaving!!
