We had a really nice holiday this week. Of course, I'm still struggling to know what day it is... you know how holidays mess you up.
The whole family got together over at the shop (aka poker house; aka hunt club) for a fried chicken luncheon on Monday. Mom and Dad came over in their golf cart, which was nice to get them out of the house for a while. Both my girls were here so that was very festive too. Everyone had a terrific time.
It was a combined holiday / birthday event for us. Missy's birthday is in early June so while she and her hubby were up from Florida for another event we decided to celebrate her birthday while we had her in person. So we ended our big meal with a lovely cake done up in Virginia Tech orange and maroon flower icing. (when they asked at the store what her favorite colors were it was the first thing I thought of. The woman looked at me like I was a little crazy - I don't think they do a lot of orange cakes). The cake turned out beautiful and my now-grown woman daughter loved it!
It was a great day for everyone, even if it was good to get a nap later :)
