Collecting Crochet

Last week we started an every-other-week meeting time for the church's two crochet groups. We'd been meeting each Tuesday morning and evening, which had proved to make for a very busy day, especially for several of who attend all the meetings.

So last Tuesday the morning group met, but the evening group did not. Tomorrow just the evening group will meet. Later, we'll re-evaluate and see if group members kept up their good works or need that weekly structure. I crochet all the time so it's not any difference for me. But I'd hate to see some of our newbie crocheters give up because we stopped weekly meetings! Rather than do that I'd go back to weekly.

This week I've been working on crocheting a basket liner. I'm recycling a multi-striped scarf that I made and never used. I thought the colors would work well and the yarn would end up useful instead of just sitting around.

As I pull the yarn out, row by row, it's going straight into my basket. I've about finished the bottom and will start heading up the sides very soon.

You know, it's hard to use wicker for storing anything (like yarn projects) because items are subject to catching on the straw and possibly pulling a thread or two. I'm hoping my liner will make this large 16 x 13 x 8 inch bowl with a handle into a Crochet Group collection spot for use at church.

PS: I noticed Sunday, that someone donated a large bag of yarn for our projects!
