I bought this huge short fat skein of grey yarn a few weeks ago at the thrift store. It was pretty much in a somewhat unraveling state, but the price was right and you know how hard it is to walk by.This week I made a couple of hats from it, including this tie-on hat with ear flaps for a little boy. It's pretty generic, I guess... little ear flaps for keeping Junior warm and long crocheted ties to keep it on his head. But I think I like it because it reminds me of one my brother had when he was very little back in the '50s.
This one is double crocheted through the body and single crocheted over the ears to keep the earaches away.
