Blast From the Past

A couple of weeks ago we were blessed with a visit from Mom's sister, my Aunt Barbara, my cousin Cheryl, and her daughter, Christina, and her daughters, Ellie and newest family member, Cate. That was just so cool to have them come out.

I really miss the old boring family reunions now, how we'd sit around wondering who some people were, chatting in the heat with those we knew, and thinking why am I here? But looking back it was "connection" to our heritage, that gets taken for granted.

There are so many little cousins I don't even know now. And my big cousins - how blessed we were and didn't even know it! We were lucky enough to often get together over at Grandma's house. We were able to know each other, laughed, cried, argued... like real family. So today, thanks to Facebook, I'm able to keep up with my far-away family. All those cousins are like brothers and sisters to me and I love them dearly, no matter how long it's been since I've seen them in person. When I see them online all grown up I still flash back to back in the day.

Right now we pray for our aunts and uncles as they face health issues that often come from long years of living. We miss those who have already gone, but we're blessed in that this whole entire extended family knows and believes in Jesus and we know we're never going to be apart for long.

I'm sure someday Grandma & Granddaddy will be ushering us in those pearly gates with streets of gold, as Grandma always used to tell us about. But for now, Facebook will do!
