"Cold hands, warm heart" is how I've always heard it. But I've had cold hands and it's no fun. Hubster has cold hands because of the medicine he's now on since his heart attack. There's just no getting around it, and it looks like they'll be like that from now on.
So you know I've been working on hand warmers to take to the nursing home. In some cases I've pulled out over half of a project at a time simply because it looked a little crooked. I'm sure it wouldn't have made any difference if I'd left it like it was... hands would still have been warmed. But that's just not me. I just can't ignore it; I can't not try to do better. So I pull and redo.
I've tried not to make any alike, although the first two sets of 'fingerlesss gloves' were identical. But the muffs, they're all different. Even though I can get two muffs out of one ball of yarn I'll make one on the round loom and crochet one. Or if I crochet both I'll have the ridges going vertical on one and horizontal on the other.
Luckily I've gotten a little better at gauging where those end stitches go so I don't have the crooked problem too much now. I really like the look of these fluffy bulky yarn warmers. I keep imagining a blanket made like this. Wow, would that be soft and warm, or what?!
I love the ridges this stitch creates. It looks way more complicated than it is. I'm glad this is working so well for these hand warmer muffs. They look great ( almost like I knew what I was doing, LoL)! I'm sure when the senior citizens of the nursing home get them they will then have "warm hands, warm hearts" and that's what it's all about!
