I thought I needed a new monitor. Apparently I thought wrong. I did 3 days worth of research to find the right replacement, even went to Bestbuy to look at a model in person. Luckily I didn't buy one. Instead I came home and did research on what other people had written about their blinking monitors.
See, my monitor is too young! Only 1½ years old. I like my monitor! I read blogs and forums to see what worked and what was tried and suggested. I looked at all my options.
Then I changed the refresh rate back to 60 upon reading that it should be 60 . More reading suggested I check the software and drivers. Whoa! Now I'm getting onto thin ice. Screw this up and definitely chance needing a monitor. After thinking a minute I figured the monitor was going out anyway so I took the plunge and upgraded the monitor drivers. I found a driver that's 3 years newer than the one I had! One more moment of hesitation before hitting the "download now" button....
When you get to those deep corners of your computer where it hides buttons that could injure your reputation as a wiz as well as permanently disfigure your configuration settings forever, it gets scary. But I'm proud to say that I finally hit the button and holding my breath, followed instructions. And I'm pleased to say that, so far, the monitor is working like a champ!
