Almost to Finishing Touches

Missy is on her way here as I write. That said, we’ve put aside our Kleenex and luckily, with the day nice outside for a change, we were able to do a little bit more out in the building. You remember it is now the “guest house.”

All work had stopped in view of the past snowy weeks and us having developed colds. Yesterday Danny went out and finished cleaning in the little bathroom from where we’d just left things. He scrubbed the unused shower down, just to get any lovely cobwebs down and took away the remaining items. He installed the new medicine cabinet that we recently found in (you know it) a thrift store. A fresh bar of soap and it’s good to go. (Towels, don’t forget to add towels)!

Today we  finished putting pillow cases on pillows, moved a few more things around, found a pole lamp, fixed that big leather ottoman up as a combination footstool coffee table in front of the couch. He didn’t want to, but we hung a few more things on the wall.

painting 020 And my favorite velvet painting is now over my computer where finally, I can look at it every day. This wasn’t one of those little cheapy things like you see stuck in gas station parking lots. No sir! This one was bought for me back in the 70s by a former boyfriend. We went to , the painter’s home and I personally selected it. I loved it the first time I saw it.

It’s been years since I was actually able to see it very much. One time it hung over our bed. I only saw it when I walked into the room. Then it hung in the back corner of the building for a long time; I only saw it if I went to the back cubby hole.

Anyway, we worked in the building because we now have a guest on the way! We’re going to get some guest feedback from her and plan accordingly. At least with the guest house she won’t have to be stuck inside with us sickies too much (but we’re getting better)!
