At long last we finally picked up our tissue boxes and got in the truck, heading not to a doctor office but to the Quartermaster Museum in Hopewell. Ft. Lee has a wonderful collection of stuff from the good folks behind the scenes who actually keep the Army running smoothly. They handle everything from food to folding parachutes, bathrooms (so important) to keeping gas in the tanks! It was quite a learning experience for me.
Dan was on a mission. He had spoken with the people several times over the phone. He’d learned that there was a collection of stuff from the Viet Nam era and in particular, a video done by a contemporary of his. Dan had hoped to see some old buddies. Unfortunately it didn’t work for Danny. Since he had come to Ft. Lee from France he didn’t experience the things that the guy in the video did. There was little to jog Dan’s memory.
But he did get some leads on finding out where rosters were up in DC. There is little online about Dan’s unit.
After we got back I was exhausted. I took some more medicine and went to bed. I’m hoping that staying home this weekend will get me over the hump. At this point you never know when a coughing attack will come and you’re looking for a spittoon. I’m afraid Missy might be getting something from us. If she does I certainly hope it’s a lesser version. I caught a lesser version from Dan, so I guess it’s possible.
I’m hoping I’ll feel better by Monday morning because I have a consultation for a sleep study. Dr. Barr and Dr. Katie think it will give some answers regarding my tense muscles and tendons. But me, I think it’s crazy. It’s not that I have a sleep problem; I have pains and noise from you-know-who. They aren’t going to get that unless he’s sleeping with me. (Actually I think he could use a sleep study instead of me)!
