Grass

It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve been outside. I’ve made little quick forays into the heat, just to check the garden, but then I’d run back into the cool interior of the house. Today I went outside. It was so nice. I was able to sit in a chair under the mimosa tree for a bit.

Danny and I went around and pruned some lower limbs off various trees. He complains about them being in his way when he cuts grass. I’ve seen what happens when he gets too close with the lawnmower. We’ve lost more than one plant because it just couldn’t take the stress any longer of getting cut bit by bit. So it was better for me to supervise him cutting limbs than for him to just go whacking.

I’ve been doing pretty good on my Eccentric Thrifter store (thanks for asking). While most people saw a slow down over summer my sales have remained consistent. Maybe it’s because I do so little on a regular basis. Doesn’t bother me even if that is the case – I do all I want to…it keeps me just busy enough and I make enough money for us to go out to eat when we want to. So who cares if I’m never going to be independently wealthy doing this?!

I’m hoping to go to PA in a couple of weekends. The people I’m most connected to in relation to my store live up there, as do some of my other online friends. One of the younger ones is having her 15th birthday and her folks have invited me so I’m going. It will be wonderful to see people I’ve only talked with online or emailed. After several years it will be good to see them! I am praying now that it is nice and cool that weekend!

I’ve been trying to get back into doing a little more genealogy. I got a document dating to 1856 relating to my Cartwright ancestors who settled our farm. I’m trying to connect the dots. I love getting new information. I just wish I’d heard about this one about 20 years ago! Would have saved me a lot of struggling! Oh well, c’est la vie.
