Anyone Else Feel Full Today?

We don't have the big Thanksgiving meal in the middle of the day. We don't sit around and watch football either. For me, the day is spent pretty quietly.

Our guys go hunting for about half a day. We do not host the Thanksgiving meal so there were no dishes to do, nothing roasting in the oven, no wonderful smells penetrating the curtains, nothing.

I worked on the computer for a while, then I went to the living room and crocheted while watching TV. I'm working on about 4 projects, gradually knocking them off one at a time.

It was nice and peaceful. I gave God my thanks for all He's done for me. I complain a lot, mostly because I hurt a lot, but all in all, things are really pretty good around here. Everyone is in rather good health; it could be much worse. We have lots of friends to keep company with. My children are happy and safe, and have wonderful people in their lives to share important moments with. We've all got plenty to eat and some, including me, have too much. Our homes are warm and cozy and welcoming.

Yep, I'm thankful.

Now, getting back to that big meal. My bro and SIL host the combined families at Thanksgiving. We were sad to be missing her mother this year, but feel sure her mom was watching with pride as her daughter made a grand showing around the table.

SIL's a terrific hostess. Everything is so elegant with shiny crystal, candles everywhere, and perfect china. Her cooking skills improve each meal and this year she capped off the meal with Tiramisu Pie - outrageously good!

And of course Mom brought food and we brought food. At last view we had: Turkey (duh), mashed potatoes, gravy, and dressing
Butterbeans and string bean casserole
Sweet potatoes with coconut, collards, and Grammy's famous rolls
Stewed tomatoes and sweet baby carrots
And incredible cranberry sauce with nuts and other goodies in it!

Besides the pie for dessert we had Pumpkin Cheesecake and Banana Nut Bread.

All that for 12 people! So is it any wonder we're still full today?

There were no pictures taken. We all forgot. We were too busy celebrating each other and being happy and thankful.

We missed Melissa & Rob, but they were in TX for her first married Thanksgiving with his family. She called and said they were doing the same thing - having a wonderful time and eating, eating, eating!
