It'll Only Hurt a Little While

At least that's what we're hoping for. Tomorrow morning at 8am Dan will have a bone graph done on his gums. Don't ask me if I'm saying this right; I don't know. But we'll leave about 7am to get over there in time, through all the traffic, etc. Hopefully the roads will be nice and clear.

This past week the Pokety Bridge was finally reopened after being closed almost a year. Woo-hoo! That made for a really long detour no matter whether you went by way of Chesapeake or thru Pungo. Everyone was so glad to take their first trip over the new bridge.

That joy is to be short-lived...we have known that they were working at the end of Fentress and Mt. Pleasant. We kept seeing the orange cones and the tree trimming. They'd run some cables at one point last year. Now we find out that they are getting ready to close that entire intersection! I think this will make the Chesapeake detour twice as long. I'm sure everyone will be going thru Pungo as much as possible. Now why didn't they just do all this stuff at the same time??

Anyway, Dan's been scurrying around this weekend trying to get loose ends tied up before he is in recuperation mode. To add to his list, the flusher on the toilet in the Guest house bathroom broke so we had to run to the store this morning to get parts. We don't want our Christmas guests to be having any issues, now do we?! And we had a strand of lights go out on our tree, but he (my hero) managed to get them fixed too. Crisis averted!

Speaking of guests, Missy & Rob will be heading north to spend Christmas with us on the 23rd. We won't really see much of them until the next day though. They've promised to help out in Danny's stead with getting dinner ready on Christmas Day. We usually host that; this year we will have a full house with 11 in attendance. (OK, people, you know I'm a firm believer in the saying "dust is a country accent!" so don't get your hope too high)!

We did manage to get all the Christmas shopping done. At this point, between doc appointments, shopping, planning, cleaning, listing and shipping store stuff we're pooped. It will be good to see January come.

Well, it time for the PJs and remote now. Already got the drinky-poo!
