We just had our new mattress delivered. We haven't had what I call a real mattress in years. We were on a waterbed for about 15 years (me longer than that), and then a Dormia temperapedic wannabe for about the last 5 years. We left the waterbed because doctors kept whining about how bad waterbeds were. So we got the other one. Our backs have deteriorated so much since the waterbed that we now know that our troubles weren't from waterbeds at all and result from lifting crap badly and genetics.
We had to get something new. Since you can't hardly find waterbeds anymore (our first choice) we went with a very, very firm mattress. We're excited about that part. Me, I'm not so excited about Hubster's bright idea to simply put the new mattress on top of the old one instead of dropping the new one into the frame.
Guess what? The mattress surface is almost 3 feet off the floor! I stood a yard stick up to see how high! Keep in mind I'm pretty short; and my butt isn't that high from the ground on a regular day.
It should be pretty interesting tonight.
