My New Computer

It arrivied Feb. 22. I'm always the last delivery of the day for UPS. (You think it might be because of living in the boonies)? It was a very long wait that day...Anyway, my computer is a ZT Reliant with 6GB memory and 1.0TB hard drive. I knew it would be fast, but compared to my old faithful of 7 years I was walking then! This new one is not from China as so many are. This one is from NJ, a small American company.

I had read lots of reviews before buying. One said it was noisy. This one is unbelievably quiet. My old one would whine a lot when she was cold, and sometimes when it wasn't even cold....just attention getting I think.

I had backed up all my documents and photos and stuff like that to my online storage center. I am having no trouble getting all of those back into my new system. Of course, the first thing I did upon starting up this morning was to download my Avant Browser. That had all my log-ons and passwords, so that was all golden in no time flat.

I may end up losing a printer. You know us, we have used  the same old printers for umpteen years now. This system doesn't use a parallel cable and one of my printers 'may' be un USB able...but we'll give it a try before kicking to the curb. I told Danny I was half minded to get rid of all the old stuff and just get 1 multi printer to do everything. I had 2 before.

I will still need to see what I will end up using for word processing. The thought of upgrading from Office 2000/2003 all the way to the 2010 version with its tabbed format really puts me off. I had the pleasure of using 2006 when it came out with that 'new' style and it sucked then; Missy says it sucks...her exact words, not mine.

I'm trying to avoid putting every last thing I had back on here. Some stuff will obviously no longer be needed, like old how-to's for programs that aren't here now. I'm weeding through it all very slowly and methodically.
