I've just not been in the mood to post lately. It's not that there are so many things going on, although I have been busy. I just think life is rather boring right now, so why share any of it.
I've been playing the piano at church for the past month and dealing with all the planning that goes along with that, practicing and such. I've also been riding the wave of nerves that always besets me when I start playing when our regular pianist goes on vacation and I'm called to fill in. After a couple of times I'm OK, but I hate always having to jump that hurdle over and over. But such as it is.
On the advise of my chiropractor I've been to see my neuro man for another opinion on my neck issues. He sent me to an anesthetist to get a "root" block, but after 10 days and no one had called me to set up the appointment I called them and discovered someone had set my information aside because they don't take my insurance. You think letting me know from the get-go would have been advisable? Well, I didn't want to see him any way. I've now got an appointment with my pain management doctor of 15 years to see what she says.
I shoulda just kept my pain to myself and my mouth shut. It's turned into such an ordeal.
I've been crocheting a lot, and on Saturday I finished up the red, white, and blue blanket to be donated by the Crochet Club to a local shut-in. I'm thinking this is my last group blanket and will aim to teach members how to join blocks so everyone can make blankets with their own (same sized) blocks. Fitting vastly different sized blocks is quite daunting at times!
I'm ready to move on to trying shawl shrugs of all things after seeing a photo of one that looks to be a converted and reconfigured afghan. Won't know until I try.
I seem to have lost interest in my thrift store after all these years. I'm just so tired of jumping through hoops to appease Google, taking photos, writing descriptions and all the rest of it. I guess I may have simply outgrown it, but so far I can't hit delete so Eccentric Thrifter remains. Occasionally I get a sale and as always has happened over the last 8 years I'm always surprised and delighted. It's so weird, but every time I start to shut it all down I get a rush of sales and keep on keeping on. Maybe I'll get a spurt of energy soon & add all the new items I've been gazing at for the last few weeks!
Hot weather is now here. The grass is growing and the corn fields are looking great (we seem surrounded these days). The tub garden we have is growing too. We have tomatoes, peppers and squash. I'm holding my breath on the squash - every time we try them they seem to melt away from some bug or weather condition. The bright yellow flowers are cheerful though so I keep trying. Bird watching in the evening is always nice from the deck and I think they have discovered our birdbath again. We have a hawk that visits our woods and upsets all winged things so it gets noisy sometimes. But I like it.
