We had a little bit of frost on the windshields last night according to Danny, who went out earlier than the rest of us. It got cool last night; we both had our pjs on and debated whether to turn the heat on or wait it out. We waited. I think Dan might check it out this evening to make sure everything is in operational order in case we need that furnace action.
Since it's been getting cold we've been watching our little garden get smaller and smaller each day. We pull up what is doomed to die very soon and plant what thrives in cold. Danny went out and started digging up the basil plants and a large cherry tomatoes out of our deck planter. He left the little hot peppers that were just starting to show signs of producing; I sent him back and now we have about 4 of the little hotties sitting in the back window.

As we checked our large 3' tall green pepper plants we discovered a broken limb. That led us to search the plants for more large peppers. We don't want more broken limbs! We discovered a pepper to rival the strange cucumber that Daddy grew earlier this summer. Have you ever seen such a thing? And isn't he sweet to pose with this green wonder?
I wonder if the cat has been fertilizing again?!!
Here's a shot of my little salad garden, planted in time for cool weather. All of these were going to be thrown away, looking scraggly and at death's door. The wooden strips on the far right are to keep that cat out!

Dannys' big ol' okra is still kicking. I guess being at the sunny end of the greenhouse made a huge difference.
My greenhouse is full now, but some of them will have to come into the house before long. We don't have heat out there.
Saturday was another hunting day and this time our neighbor,

Austin bagged a
coyote! Can you believe that there are coyotes in Virginia Beach? I knew we had bear and bobcat and probably a few other things creeping about, but coyote always seem so "southwestern." Mom and I walked over when the boys were out hunting again to see this for ourselves. Quite a large one at that.
Cheers! Stay warm!
