Today was pretty nice, in the 50s I think. When Mom got back from her weekly hair appointment we went over to the Mennonite Church by the courthouse and perused the indoor yard sale they had. They also sold BBQ which was really good.
I finally found my extra bookshelf that I've been looking for. I am sure I'll get my $10 worth out of it already. When Danny and I were bringing it into the house from the garage Dan was starting to go backwards up the steps when his foot caught the edge of the very last brick on the bottom step. The brick came off and Dan went down in slow motion. He got a scrap on is lower shin and I'm sure it will bruise, but he didn't break anything (including the cabinet). Thank God! He's got enough troubles with his back still troubling him (which is why I bought the cheap shelves instead of the ThisEndUp shelving unit that was nicer and way heavier)!
We quickly got him upright and got the shelves into my office building. I had to do some shuffling around; of course, where I'd moved things around fixed a nice space for it was wrong - in front of the electric panel. I never even looked up when I was cleaning, but Dan took one look at it and cocked and eyebrow at me like I was crazy. He left and I started shuffling. Now everything looks nice, is easy to find and I'm not walking over it.
The year is almost gone and Thursday is Thanksgiving! We had a little dab of snow Friday, can you believe it? We're lucky to ever get snow before January at all! Makes it harder to walk across the deck, but I still like it. The snowbirds are gradually showing up and we enjoy watching them prance around hunting for stuff to eat. Maggie told me Friday that our boss in India knows that if it snows we don't work. I've been a little worried about that; I don't go out in the snow anymore like that ever since I had my hips replaced. Just not worth the chance of falling.
Wednesday Cava is having a Thanksgiving service and they will serve up a whole traditional Thanksgiving dinner too! The minister said his family goes to another family member's home on Thanksgiving so this is the only time they get to fix dinner. And with the congregation so small it's like family anyway. All we have to do is show up. Melissa and Rob ate lunch there a couple of weeks ago. We took Danny a plate since he missed going. I really enjoyed it and look forward to Wednesday night.
It's nice to find new friends. I am thankful for that.
I am thankful for my family and that they are all in good health. It's way to easy to be lonely and have no one in this great big world.
I am thankful my children are wonderful, safe, healthy, and happy people. Just think of the thriving children's hospitals filled with dashed hopes.
I am thankful to live here in my wonderful home and for being free. The world is full of oppressed people living in cars and boxes and under overpasses.
I am thankful for my little job that just meets my needs. So many people are losing theirs.
I am thankful that my hips were able to be replaced and I don't have daily pain; I don't have amputation or a wheelchair. I'm so thankful.
I am even thankful that I am overweight. It means we have food on the table and can eat whenever we want to without begging.
I'm thankful for the men and women who keep us free and especially those who now have wheelchairs and are amputees. They gave so much for me and you.
I am thankful to be able to write this and to publish my gratitude to God for walking with me every day.
Remember to thank Him.
Have a good Thanksgiving with people you love.
