I've been meaning to write...

but it's been real busy lately. I've been shuffling items around in my online stores, working at work, working on the Ruritan website, BJ wants me to redo her genealogy book.  I need to get more of Mom's cookbooks printed, and in the meantime I have a book I'm working on for Christmas; never mind the fact that yes, Christmas is on the way! Now you pretty much know my to-do list.

I did want to take a moment to tell you about Sweetie, our little beagle. The other morning about 5am she started yelling, just a steady bark, almost like a clock. I got up and after checking out the side windows I saw that Bro was up and letting his dog out in the yard. I thought that was the end of it. But no, Sweetie is still barking.

Of course, Dan is not getting up. He could sleep through a train wreck. I get up again and this time turn on the flood lights and check to see which direction she's looking. I had heard owls before and thought if it wasn't Bro then it must be the owls. But it wasn't. She's barking and her tail is just a wagging. That's my clue - something is in the pen.

Now Dan's gotta get up! I'm grabbing shoes and a coat and hunting for the flashlight while he gets his motor running. Then we head outside.
Here's what we found:Possum 2
Yes, I know it's a bit dark, but hell, it was dark outside when we got there. Dan shined the light on him, and I struggled to get a photo, all the while Sweetie is going all over the fence shaking the crap out of me.
Dan got a long pole and from the back of the pen starts poking at him to get the possum out. I'm like, "how do you expect him to leave when you're poking at him? He's turned around looking at you!" So Dan quits poking and the possum goes thru a little tiny hole in the chain link fence. I can't believe a possum can go through one of those! But he did!!
THE END
