I started working on "the chicken" puzzle the other day. It looked so cute, so clever, kind of folksy. I picked it up at a thrift store one day to put in my SuperStuff store. It wasn't sealed so I thought I'd better check it first for missing pieces.
I think it's one of the hardest puzzles I've ever done! There aren't really a lot of pieces, but this is a puzzle of duplicates, with pieces that have been cut alike. You can think you have the right piece in the right place and BAM! there's another one to fit the same place.
You have to really study the tiniest little color or design on the pieces. When Melissa was home she was sure there were pieces missing. We just had an awful time trying to complete the border! After she went back to school I've kept working it, sometimes going down a row 1 piece at a time.
I guess my diligence paid off. I was finally able to get the border done. As you can see I have had to work with sections that had the most "differences" first. That pile of black ones you see on the right? OMG! I dread doing that. They are a mass of black with little blue lines on them (feather outlines).
Actually, even though it's a pain in the ass, but I've enjoyed working on it!
