Hump Day Wednesday

Today was thrift store day. There's plenty to be had, but prices are way up. People in hard times are go to these places to help ease the pain, not make it worse! I saw 2 bookshelves for $50 EACH! I bought one not before Christmas for $10. It's crazy! I almost consider it gouging the little guy!
We're trying to limit our spending for "unnecessary" things, so my finds were few:
  • 4 new skeins of yarn for only $1.99 ($4-$6 each in the stores) so I had to scoop them up for my LadieAnn handmade store.
  • A crocheted scarf for $1.00 in the same colors as the washcloths I just finished. I'll recycle it into a hat.
  • A 1957 London edition of "Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates."
  • Dan found a shoulder holster that looked brand new and 2 sailing books. He came home happy.
We're now looking for a wooly lined leather coat. My old moccasin slippers bought around 1978 have finally worn thin so we're going to make some. You can't find them except from Indians at really high prices and I don't like the ones with soles on them; I want moccasins so I can feel the ground!
We stopped by an upholstery shop and got some free leather scraps. But I want the lining so we thought about where to get it cheap - duh! thrift store! We actually saw one but it was $50.  Maybe next week! It's on our agenda now.

On a different note Dan and I will visit our gastro guy tomorrow. I got my 5 year colonoscopy notice and Dan's going to see what he thinks about the test results showing diverticulosis. Dan ditched the cardio appointment when he found out it was with a nurse who was going to give him the same lab results that our PCP nurse had given him. Saved$40! Dan's getting very tired of all this health crap (as he calls it). He's not used to being the patient. I'm hoping everything will be sorted out soon and that the high BP was the culprit after all.
