Halloween Roses

The cold is gradually taking over our beautiful Autumn. Because this year we didn't get the nasty rains that usually turn the falling leaves into gray masses over night, it still looks absolutely lovely outside.

But it's already gotten cold enough to require turning on the heat at night. So today we went outside to do our greenhouse organizing for the winter. We usually wait too late in the season and end up scurrying around bundled up, hardly able to bend over to reach the plants for all the padding worn. I guess it's actually late in the season now; after all, tomorrow is November.

My Knockout Roses are still going strong. I hated to think of pruning the plants with roses still on them. I confess I did prune a little and those unfortunate few (roses) that met my shears were quickly gathered for some indoor pleasure and a last look at summer.
Aren't these terrific? Here it is - Halloween Eve and I have roses! Can it get any better?!
