These last few weeks have been trying ones for the entire family. If you don't already know, Daddy has Stage 4 Prostate Cancer which has gone into the bones. His medications, which are supposed to help stop the spreading are getting started now. Being the "people-person" that he is, he's now enjoying seeing visitors again, which greatly helps take his mind off his troubles.
Last Sunday Danny and I went back to church. It's been so long. I don't know why people, ourselves included, stop going. I guess that human nature that let's you get your drawers in a bunch takes over sometimes, as a useful and effective tool of Satan for keeping people away from God. But we're back now and I even signed up for the (perfectly timed) upcoming Ladies Bible study. It starts next Wednesday, but I got so excited that I forgot and thinking it was today actually went to the church this morning to find an empty parking lot. Oh well. I asked God to give me credit for the attempt anyway LOL!
I've had my own health issues to deal with lately (although they pale in comparison to Dad's). Nonetheless I still have to jump through hoops getting labs it seems every time I walk through a door; I had an MRI Saturday, and after yesterday's follow-up with my pain management doctor I'm scheduled for cervical/thoracic ESI injections on March 20. Another doctor will be doing the procedure so I'm a little apprehensive, but if Dr. Barr approves him, he's got to be ok! For that I have to stay off any anti-inflammatory medicines from now until then, so I foresee a tad more stiffness in my immediate future.
On Saturday as we were headed to the MRI we got rear-ended while sitting at a stop light. I felt like a crash dummy with my arms flailing about. We sat in stunned silence for a moment before actually realizing what had happened. The light had changed, the traffic surged forward in slow-motion before halting again. The inattentive girl behind us simply saw the light change to green and stepped on the gas as she (in her words) looked down. We tend to think she may have been texting although she didn't go as far as saying that.
Why do people think they are immune to stupidity? Driving a vehicle is the same as moving a large weapon around in the public domain. It demands strict attention. Oh well. We both had aches and pains, but since we managed to get up out of bed the next day, we felt very lucky it wasn't worse. We personally thanked God while in church the next day.
A quick update on my Eccentric Thrifter thrift store. March is turning out to be a very good month (so far) with 7 sales in 3 days. It just means I'll have more reason to visit a thrift store soon and replenish my stock. These days thrift store shopping is about like therapy where all all our troubles drop away for a brief time. Here, here! Support your local thrift store!
