It's been an awfully long time since I posted here. Seems like the more I try to get some sort of schedule going, the more I get behind. Let's see...what's been going on?
Today I had another massage. OMG I can't tell you how much they are helping me with my neck and back. She is loosening up the muscles that Dr. Barr said were the tightest ones she's ever seen in her career. It's slow progress... but I have time to go there and lay there and feel pampered for a little while, no problem.
I have had a swollen foot for a couple of weeks now. The tests show no blockage in the veins of my legs and x-rays were all normal. I have an appointment with a vascular guy next week. If he finds nothing then a podiatrist may be next. But enough of the aches and pains.
I've been enjoying my Eccentric Thrifter online thrift store. My private outlet mall for some really cool stuff we find when we go to the thrift stores around here. We just like looking. We can't help it if we find too much to keep for ourselves! So in the store they go. I take photos, write ads and talk about them online so the word gets out even more that just showing up in shopper search results. I do about 10 sales a month, which is comfortable for me to have fun with.
Poor litttle Abby has been a victim of the terrible flea population. Everywhere we go, from the Vet to the pet stores, everyone is predicting a bad season. Boy, do we believe it. I doubt there's a dog anywhere that gets almost daily baths. We've tried powders, FrontLine (which quit working after doing so well for so long. And we've heard others say the same thing), collars, special medicated shampoos, daily flea hunts, which I think she actually enjoys (sort of like my massages). We bought stuff from the Vet and today bought the Advantix. I've suggested to Danny that we even see if she's paper-trained. Well, we weren't aware of her 'features' when we adopted her and were pleased to find she had many skills and talents...maybe peeing on paper is one of them? It would at least eliminate a trip outside. She doesn't like being outside, preferring her new pampered indoor life.
To aid Abby's distress Dan's been cutting the grass a lot. Speaking of yard, our little Rose-of-Sharon are growing nicely with all this rain. I can't wait until they start blooming! Everyone who comes up our long driveway speaks about them, wanting to know what they are. I'm so glad we didn't go with a more traditional plant, like Crepe Myrtles.
I went to Praise Team practice again last night. I love the singing and love the potential to have great harmony. I worry that I don't fit in (I'm too old and fat) and I'm terrified of being in front of the church singing like that, much preferring to be cloistered among choir members or directing choir with my back to the audience. I've just never been one to do much 'up front' activity (except when I directed the Senior Assisted Living choir... I had to introduce us and speak about Jesus and the hymns and our message to our nursing home audiences. But they were so appreciative I didn't feel out of place any). I've asked God to help me overcome my fears, but it may be His way of telling me this is not my calling...I don't know. I guess if I don't faint I might be ok.
We had a weird looking storm that passed by the other day. I just had to take photos of this huge line that covered us. I keep saying we are ground zero for Edgar Casey's safest places on earth, of which Tidewater is one...but I think our back yard is the pivot point. In this case we didn't get squat compared to other areas.
