It's Father's Day

It's been a very nice day today. The weather has been beautiful, even if it's a little over-cast; at least it's not hot! I went to the early morning Praise Team rehearsal at 8:30 while Danny finished cooking for our luncheon contribution. He did corn on the cob and his fabulous baked beans.

I came back home after practice and then we both went back to church for the worship service. We had a guest speaker today, who was terrific. I actually had a chance to meet him before church started.

The Praise Team sang "Welcome Home" to get things started and after the opening prayer the congregation sang "Ancient Words." I must say, a few months ago there weren't many participants from the audience, but last week and this, they were making a joyful noise! It's really great to see the difference. Since joining Praise Team my own view point has changed regarding traditional vs contemporary music. But I think everyone is having a little more fun with the upbeat songs and I'd like to think that God must be pleased to hear his people sing!

After church we went over to Bro's house for lunch on the screened porch. He grilled nice thick pork chops and we had homemade apples, Mom's famous rolls, and a big dish of mashed potatoes in addition to Danny's goods. And it was all topped off with Black Walnut Cake (by Mom, of course). Everything was terrific! Bro's father-in-law was there too and we all had a wonderful time!

Of course, it was nap time after we got back home! You don't even have to ask!
