Box Hunt

We went hunting this morning... box hunting. I sold a little wooden cabinet and all of a sudden a box was essential. I went to my box closet where I store frequently saved boxes before heading to the garage for the larger sizes. Hubster went to the attic. No luck anywhere. Well, we found a big box that would need a major overhaul, if push came to shove.

I went online to look for potential sources and even posted on Facebook, where someone suggested checking with a florist. Hmmm... would a long-stemmed floral box work? The idea was added to the travel list.

I called a couple of UPS stores. My goodness, but they want a lot for a box! It wasn't delivery day at the grocery store either. Often when we go they are restocking and emptying out boxes of goodies onto their shelves. I snag a lot of smaller boxes from grocery stores. I've been known to get a good box or two from a Subway too, an often overlooked source (no, not the dirty used pizza boxes, the good ones they get their supplies in).

My mind swirled with potential places to go hunting. Then I remembered. My dear sweet sister-in-law once said they have a load of boxes. So I made the call and sure enough she had a box that can be marshalled into my perfect shipping box with not too much trouble. Awesome!!

These days when I go thrifting I'm picking items that are of a much more manageable size. At the time when I selected this little cabinet with it's 3 little shelves it practically beckoned to me. So cute, I'd wished I'd had a place for it myself. But now it will have a home somewhere in California where viewers and users can "ooh" and "ahhh" like I first did. Don't you love when a plan comes together?
