We were planning on just making a quick run there and back to pick up our taxes. That's what I'd thought. But because we got a late start it was lunch time by the time we'd run our errand. So naturally we wanted to eat while we were out.
On one hand he didn't want to go in to sit down for a large meal. Ok... so I asked him about going in for a quick small meal. That was fine... no problem.
We ended up at Olive Garden. As soon as I mentioned soup and bread sticks he was onboard. Of course you know how it really works. You're looking at beautiful color photos of scrumptious food and suddenly breadsticks don't look so good.
We tried to stick to our guns somewhat with a compromise. We got soup and sandwich. It seemed like a good idea at the time. It turned out that 1:30 is apparently still rush hour. The kitchen backed up and by the time we got our food almost a half hour after we arrived it was dry toast bun with dried up meat and sauce. Uck!
To make matters worse we ate in a big hurry because while waiting he thought he'd left a pot on simmer on the stove. OH CRAP!
So we hustled our dried food down as much as possible, bringing a half of each "half sandwich" home with us. You probably know Hubster is a rather slow driver, but he made good time getting home to check that pot.
We got to the driveway and the house was still standing! PTL! I don't have to do him in now, because I'd told him I would if he burned the house down!
So at this point I'm not sure what I ate or how fast I ate it, or where I've been... we've been in such a hurry. And it was all because he thought he knew what he thought! And he THOUGHT WRONG! Everything was cut off when we arrived. Everything and everybody is safe and sound!
