Wow! The skies are blue and it's actually hot out there! Finally... I think the long winter is finally over! We've moved the plants that were stored indoors back outside and given them a big drink of water. I've been pulling a few weeds in short increments of time (alas, can't bend or stand too long)... so that may take a while to finish. But are weeds ever really finished LoL? The grass has been cut twice now...goodness, how much bigger the yard looks when you cut for the first time after winter!
The daffodils are still hanging around, having bloomed a few weeks ago between cold spells. The little hyacinths are just starting to bloom. I'm surprised they're doing anything at all... we transplanted them last Fall. You have to look close to see them in the photo, but there are little purple sprigs poking out now (If anyone wants any let me know)!
Camellia bushes are jamming now. The wood's path is littered with the May Apples that have finally leafed out, looking like little umbrella. And the Weeping Cherry is showering us with tiny pink petals. The pear and peach are blooming and my back yard is simply glorious now! We love sitting on the deck this time of year.
Dan's been running from project to project, anxious to work on things that have needed warm weather before he could deal with them. I'm anxious to see when putting the new roof on the RV hits the top of that list, as well as taking the mast down on the sailboat for rewiring. Yes, he's got quite a full To-Do list going already!
Abby is having a wonderful time since we now have the doors open and the breezes seem to call her name. She is just too funny... we have a few of what I call resident buzzards that swirl about overhead from time to time. Abby feels it's her duty to protect us from those huge shadows that cross the yard, round and round. To see her trying to run while cranking her neck to look up is a riot!
I also started my outdoor morning walks this week. I must say it seems a bit harder this time, but I fear that's due to hip deterioration over the cold months. So far I've only been able to do 3 up and downs of our long driveway. Forget miles; I doubt I'd ever make it that far. At least I'm moving and that's the important thing!
