The BBC church Crochet Club hat project is going well. We've had pretty good turn-outs for all 4 sessions so far. I think the 2nd morning meeting was my favorite time yet, because there were only 3 of us and I got to sit down and chat more instead of walking round and round the table the entire time. By the time we get finished we will have some pretty awesome and colorful hats ready for donation.
Yesterday I grabbed a beautiful pinkish skein of bulky yarn at Walmart. I'm going to see how it turns out on a larger loom using the new stitch I've started using on the baby hats. I've found that using regular yarn on larger looms makes the hats 'thin' unless you use two threads at once. That's sometimes a challenge to get both threads up and over the front line. Maybe one bulky thread is the answer. I'm planning to get this project started today.
I've also been thinking of using some specialty yarn I've acquired over the years, specifically this lovely deep brown velour yarn. I think a hat made of that would be glorious! Since there is no label I don't know who made it. (Serious research is on my agenda now). As you can see, there is a little matter of peeling that insane tape off before I can use it. Don't you hate when thrift stores do that?! There oughta be a law! But I guess I can't complain too much at only 78¢.
