What a Turn

It was something I do often, a quick turn to hang the towel after showering. Only this time - boom! Pulled something in my back. Oh gosh, I even said out loud at the time, "I don't think this is going to play well." And it hasn't.

I've been trying to stretch some when I can, but mostly it's heat and rest. That's what the PA said last Monday. I don't ever see the PAs for my pain doc, but I was desperate. Doc is out of town until mid-August. Murphy's Law... make it stop!

Mr. PA gave me a few shots of Lidocain to help ease my suffering. But he can't do manipulations and I fear I'm stuck until mid-August, waiting for my physiotherapist doctor who can pull the kinks every which way. He said I could try a chiropractor, but I can't see chancing it since I have so many other issues to be considered. After all I haven't had a pain management doctor for 14 years for nothing!

I grabbed all my old saved therapy exercise papers that therapists like to send home with you after you finish a course of action, hopeful that you might continue doing them at least another week on your own. (Does anyone ever do that)? The last time I had x-rays for this was in 2002, so I've been exceptionally careful for a very long time, thank you. This was just one of those things that sometimes happen. :(

With fresh x-rays in hand I return for the reading this coming week. Meanwhile I'm resting, walking a little (with a cane), bending backwards for what it's worth, and praying things go well and go easy.

What gets me is when we drive out (to the doctor's office, where else?) I see people going about their everyday lives and I'm so jealous. I think, they have no idea how good they have it. So I final words are: If you can reach down and pick up something you've dropped without needing help, count your blessings. If you can cross your legs, squat, or dig in your garden, count your blessings. If you can stand up for more than 15 minutes before pain starts kicking in, thank the good Lord for it... He's blessing you in a big way! Be grateful and tell Him so!
