Yes It Can

I was wondering if the holiday season could possibly get any busier than it did over the last weekend? The answer: Yes, it can!

Let's see, last Saturday started with the Breakfast With Santa at church. So cool! Then after eating I headed to the Sanctuary to check some music - I'd lowered the key of several songs and we needed to test sing to see what worked.

While that was going on we noticed the heat coming on was wrecking some Christmas play decorations, actually tearing them off the walls when air pulled toward the large vents. I helped the Play Director, as best I could, with her in front and me behind the curtain, bending Christmas tree branches to prevent more holes poking the delicate paper and taping weights to the papers.

We'd brought some Crochet Club yarn projects out for our Silent Auction, but things were so hectic that we didn't get time to finish what we needed. The auction will be this Sunday; and we hope it being one-day-only will somehow work to our advantage.

That was Saturday. Sunday was equally busy. I actually started the church service by asking if I could get a Big Amen from the Congregation, who complied with a resounding AMEN! Now, I'm not a public speaker at all, but for a brief moment I set aside my fears (thank you, Jesus) to direct everyone singing the Amen Song. It was totally awesome to hear!

After church we headed to Creeds Cafe with Friends. It seemed that a lot of Blackwater folks from church  had the same idea. After a quick break we changed and headed to a funeral service for a dear friend's father. I was honored to have been asked to sing with my duet-mate, Laurie. My heart broke as I watched my friend sing along with us through her tears.

It was a long day in the end, but we finally got back home, put on the 'jammies and got between the sheets (the ones over the heated mattress pad). We weren't able to attend the Reception or the Christmas play, having run out of steam. Poor Hubster was just too cold and worn out; after-all, he is still getting back on his feet from his October heart attack.

So this season we just take it one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. The coming week will be equally distracted and confused and exhilarating and wonderful. I simply have to take time for another massage before my head falls off of my tired neck and shoulders. That will keep me going as we prepare for the Silent Auction (I'll pull more items for inclusion). I've got music to go over, bulletin announcements to write, and the church website needs updating. I'll be wrapping presents, and probably buying a few more just because I can, and preparing the guest house for my daughter's arrival. I had wanted to make cookies, I just gotta do some crocheting and reading and.. and.. and.....!
