Mother's Day weekend was pretty busy around here. Missy flew in to join the celebrations. Friday kick-off started with Happy Hour at Bliss's beautiful house, plenty of good food, and great companions to chat up.
Saturday morning we had a girls day out while catching the trolley at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Gosh, and I was worried that the azaleas had all finished blooming! No chance - the gardens were wonderful as always, especially the huge Rose Garden and the Wild Flower meadow. We finished up by heading back to Great Bridge and hitting up the Three Amigos Mexican restaurant - so good! I became designated driver as a couple of our ladies took advantage of some nice cold Margaritas. Then by the time we got home, everyone was ready for some down-time with the eyes closed!
Sunday was so busy for me at church. The kids' bell choir started off the service. I love to hear them play and they're so much fun to work with! They have such concentration for little folks! Then The Praise Team took over and led the church singing Jesus Loves Me and He's Got the Whole World In His Hands. The second hymn of the day was one of my bell gals who sang Power In the Blood as a solo. With the regular pianist enjoying her own family I played piano for the entire service (always nerve-wracking). But everything was beautiful and it was a great church day.
After church Danny and I did a quick wardrobe change before heading to Creeds Cafe for a family luncheon. When we arrived we were delighted to see the family had expanded to party status with 3 more sets of neighbors joining us. We just kept adding extra tables to the end until we nearly reached the other wall! And it was great to have my own two girls with me for Mother's Day!
After lunch we headed home, ending up on Mom's back porch. We sat and chilled, watching the geese come up the canal to eat bread. Mom opened her cards and got a petunia hanging basket and Better Boy tomato plant (the gift that keeps on giving)!
It was all such a nice day. I know Daddy would have been proud of us!
