Almost

Well, I finally got a chance to take my hand warmers over to the nursing home last week. While the Activity Director liked what I brought and really hadn't thought about using basically "finger-less gloves" I think she was still hoping for muffs.

Gosh, but I remember when I was really little I had one that was white fur. It seems like there were strings on it to hang it over my neck to keep little kids from dropping white fur things onto the ground. Yep, I just did a quick search and actually found one for a child from the 1950s for sale on eBay. And there were the strings!

Anyway, so I'm going to do more muff style rather than finger-less glove version. Yesterday I started experimenting on one using the fluffy yarn but doing it in the half-double crochet style that looks so nice in regular yarn.

It's a bit dicy getting all the fluffs to work right without a colorful word or two to help it along. Looking at the photo, I may need a few more words as the project is way more crooked than I was pretending it wasn't. It's that very last stitch on each row... Fluffy yarn is a bear to see where the loop I need is hiding! But I know fluffy yarn is more forgiving to look at, so if I get a wrong loop or two, maybe they won't notice too much. I'm planning on adding a border and maybe I can straighten it out a bit. I'm sure cold hands will not notice when eventually tucked inside!
