Melt Down

Previously seeking grass to pee on
Today was a melt day. We really don't usually get much snow to speak of. It's lingered much longer than normal, but today we have had a heat wave in the mid-40°s. Woo-hoo! My dogs have grass to pee on (they've been using my emerging daffodils); I can see the deck again and walk without fear of slipping. I actually took my crocheting outside on the deck while the dogs explored. The wind was nippy but it was an invigorating nip.

It's been really neat seeing the snow and ice melt so that everything looks like it has microwaved icing on it. Really smooth and glassy-looking. I took my camera on a few of our jaunts out but never took any pictures. The truck is coated in mud from our driveway so it would have been a miracle to find a clean place to take a photo through the glass. I didn't dare roll the window down; last time I tried that I was quickly told that the window had frozen and how dumb for me not to have thought that. What do I know about windows except they go up and down and can possibly break.

Our ice-encrusted Weeping Cherry tree
We headed to Creeds Cafe this morning for breakfast. Of course, it's taken us so long to get over there for breakfast that they no longer have their early-bird specials anymore, which was why we went. I hate to say it, but we were rather disappointed in breakfast. But lunch is pretty much our favorite desire when it comes to CC, so I'm sure we'll just stick to later hours.

The Intercoastal Waterway was really cool to see when we went over the bridge. All that ice was still there, with broken streaks in it from a barge that went through earlier (we could still see it heading north).

I don't think we'll have warm weather but for a couple of days before it gets cold again. I've been feeling it in my bones today, so watch out. It's been like walking on peg-legs for me with my metal hips and temps in the teens the past few days. If I can just get through these next few cold spells I'll have it made! Hmmmm.... I'm thinking hot chocolate oughta help right about now!
