I've been working on Mom's yard lately, making it more 'less maintenance' friendly. To that end some plants (like Iris and Daffodils) have been consolidated together in order to have less flower beds - less is best! Old landscape timbers have been removed, the rotten beams on the large grape vines have been replaced so they are lifted and not falling down (Daddy'd be so proud to know his vines are being cared for). A few heat-tolerant marigolds have been added in the front sidewalk bed along with a couple of red geraniums for a pop of color. We've been trimming the two huge Burford Hollies at the road so you can now see when backing out the drive. I think one is slated for demolition soon.
Mom is still dealing with home renovations. One bathroom is done, the other half-way, and they've started replacing the kitchen/den floors and upgrading the counter tops. So many leaks had been allowed to go on for way too long, but everything will be sturdy and mold-free when it's all completed.
In the midst of chaos (her kitchen table is now in the living room) Mom has been sick nearly a month with acute bronchitis. We visited Doc again yesterday who gave a new round of drugs to try. If they fail they'll have to go take a look to see exactly what's going on. Do continue to pray for her... it's not easy being sick when things are so mixed up at home.
