Hot Old July

I hadn't realized it had been so long since my last post. It seems like it was just Christmas and now kids are getting ready to go back to school already! Time is flying by!

Someone is always in the "drama health department" these days. I'm getting ready for a block in my lower back next week that I'm not crazy about. I fear that without any pain to alert me I may do damage bending wrong or standing too long. I've never not wanted a procedure before so, say a prayer next Wednesday for me! Maybe it'll be a good thing.

Hubster's step-mother is now in rehab after two weeks in the hospital with a bladder infection. That's left her with a swollen leg and stuck in bed. Her Alzheimer is progressing quickly. We visited her yesterday but she slept through all but 5 minutes of it. I'd say my father-in-law got them moved from Colorado just in the nick of time. He's doing extremely well for 92 and dealing with so much stress, but he's already connected with a new church family and there were actually people he knew there. It helps I'm sure. He's always calm and collected. I could learn lots from him, I guess.

Hubster's cardiology appointment went well last week. They think maybe the primary care physician made an error reading his recent scan since the inflamed left ventricle is not showing up in newer scans. But to be on the safe side he'll have a new stress test and overnight oxygen check soon.

I'm still crocheting hats, hopeful to get in the next Fall craft show. We really enjoyed it last year and I'm crocheting better than ever now (other than that stupid plastic bag mat that kept going crooked). I guess smaller items are my forte!

Our tomatoes in tubs on the deck are rather pathetic, but I really haven't seen anyone have very good crops lately. It just takes more tomatoes to make my sandwich awesome than with a large slice. Maybe we were just meant to feed the horn worms. 4 so far. We're contemplating just going to the store next year. I don't know... there's something about dirt that I really like. I think it's the "farmer's daughter" in me!

I do want to share this photo of my curly willow. I can't believe it's still living! This was just a 12 inch decorative stick in one of the floral arrangements that we got when my dad passed. We'd downsized as flowers died and cut flowers ended up in vases of water. Eventually I noticed some sticks rooting. I shoved several in a large pot on the deck and hoped winter wouldn't kill them. I have several rootings, but this one is now taller than me!
