Lost But Not Forgotten

Have you ever lost something that seemed to fall into the black hole, never to be seen again? Back in the day we had a remote control that left the planet. We scoured the entire house and could only assume that it was accidently thrown away by one of the kids in their zest for cleaning up too quickly. The remote would have been laying on a TV tray (we liked to eat watching TV). It was never found to this day.

I’m going through the same thing again. Last Sunday I took a pill from my pill bottle after a luncheon at church. The bottle cap got stuck and wouldn’t move as I closed it. I didn’t want to mess with it and maybe have pills flying around, so I brought it home to work on later. The good news is that at least it was closed. I remember taking it out of my church tote bag and wanting to set it somewhere that Hubster would see it, since he’d said he’d fix it. It wasn’t just on crooked; a tab had gotten hung up and it was stuck solid. So having the bottle in my hand and thinking “later I won’t remember I put it here” is the last I recall. How prophetic! Now if I could just remember the location. Both of us have checked pockets of shirts, coats and pants. We’ve checked tote bags, under the edge of curtains, and seat cushions. We’ve checked the edges of shelves, pulled open drawers, checked cabinets and even behind the microwave…. anywhere and everywhere we can think of except the one place the stupid thing is hiding.

I guess I need to go order another bottle. Of course, as soon as I do we’ll find the others. Isn’t that the way it always happens?
