This early Saturday morning finds me up about 6:15. For some reason that seems to be my bio-clock time. I just always get up about that time of day. I haven't used an alarm in years. In fact if Danny wants to get up early he just tells me what time and I'm his alarm clock.
This morning I went out the back door of our bedroom, across the deck and to my office, avoiding the house altogether. Melissa and Rob are here and Rob was sleeping on the air mattress in the living room. I knew that eventually the cat would be the culprit or catalyst to waking everyone.
Rob is very likeable and he suits Melissa to a T. They were very relaxed with each other, comfortable and easy going. It is a great pleasure to finally meet him, this camping and hiking buddy who has accompanied Melissa so many times on so many trips. I know she'll be safe with him. Today they've headed south to Nags Head to explore.
Last night we enjoyed Happy Hour over at the poker house. There were 14 of us in total so it was a pretty full house! Lynne and Danny made fajitas, Lynne doing hamburger and tuna ones and Danny on marinated and breaded chicken selections. In addition to all that neighbors from Indian Creek Road, Debbie and Pat, brought a big pot of home made chicken and rice soup. Not a bad selection for just hanging out! And of course there was plenty of home made wine around and Randy was concocting some milk and rum drinks that he likes to invent. I don't drink much and last night I didn't drink at all.
Lindsey was the only one missing. She's still in South Carolina at Brosnan Forest. She's coming in today and I think her new friend, Wes is also returning from a brief Navy deployment. Hopefully both of them will be home in time for dinner tonight. We're doing a family get-together over at the poker house with ham, potato salad, corn pudding, and other fine eats. And we can't wait to get the details about her trip.
