It's been a long 2 days. Like the rest of the country we've been watching the horror story unfold at Virginia Tech. It's even worse now since we know that Melissa lost a dear friend that day. Knowing that she is grieving hurt me so much, especially knowing that there is nothing I can possibly do to take away her pain or the pain of all the others.
Tomorrow we're suppose to wear the orange and burgundy colors of VT as a symbol of unity in the face of this devestation. I'm pretty sure all the VT stuff we ever had is part of Melissa's wardrobe now. I do have a little cordoroy burgundy jacket that I recently bought because it had front pockets. It is my yard sale coat for holding money, business cards, glasses, and a loop. You have to be prepared, you know. I can wear that to Happy Hour or maybe if it's cold enough I have a long burgundy cowl neck sweater that would fit the bill. I wonder if Dad has a VT hat?
Yesterday Caz, the woman in Australia called again to see if we'd decided to start a business with the OneGroup Company. They are looking for distributors in the US. We'd be ideal, being in the middle of the Eastern Seaboard. We've been thinking about it, but are still reluctant.
In the meantime, it seems like consignments for eBay are falling in my lap. A friend of Randy's called to discuss selling his wife's doll collection. The first one they sent pictures of is a Danbury Mint doll. Should be interesting. Arlene brought up a few more things and told me she'd given my name to a neighbor who is downsizing before they sell their house. It sounds like this lady has some really nice things as well to put on the auction block.
Keep on, and I'll need a shop as big as Danny's to hold everything.
I bought plants today. We went to Home Depot and ended up at the Atlantic Garden Center where they were cheaper. I bought a lot of good old favorite standards like marigolds, coleus, and geraniums this year. Of course I had to pick up a couple of the Lantana, one of my recent new favorites. They change colors while from start to finish of their bloom cycle. I bought the marigolds in VT colors. I wonder if Melissa will notice. I wanted them for the planters on the deck. I forgot about the 2 planters we have by the little building. They will be brought back to sit on either side of the garage door later, so I guess I still have plenty of time to get something for them. Maybe I'll do Peppers! I got a couple of tomatos but ran out of energy before getting them in the ground. That's ok since it's kinda chilly out still.
Dad said his tomato seeds came up this week! I'd gotten him one of those little seed starting greenhouse contrations for his birthday in January. Got him seeds too. I don't think he remembers what he planted where, he didn't mark anything, but it will be fun to see what turns out.
Lindsey is in SC until Saturday. It was nice not to have to get up and make a sandwich for lunch for her lunch this morning. I enjoy doing it usually, but sometimes it's nice to sleep in to the grand old time of 7am for a change! I know she's enjoying herself. When she called Dan briefly to let us know she had arrived at Brosnan Forest she could barely speak it was so awesome there. It was a very very brief call.
I am so tired now after digging. I hate to get up out of my chair, I just know I'm going to be stiff. It's like walking on stumps, so frustrating. I guess I shouldn't complain at all. At least I have both my legs; some of our soldiers coming home from Iraq don't.
