I started my Christmas shopping today. Finally. I've been thinking about doing it for a while. Thinking about it doesn't make it any easier. It's still a hunting party.
I went to therapy this morning. Afterwards I took some party stuff that we didn't use over the weekend back to the Party Store. I had erred on the side of getting too much decoration for the Veterans Day dinner at church. I also had to return a lovely sweater I'd gotten myself to wear to work to keep my arthritis from hurting my arm. When I tried it on again at home with dressier clothes the sweater just didn't work. My arms look like they belong to a samuri warrior. I've been doing a lot, no, a ton, of exercise for my shoulder and using weights...so it's not just me being fat.
Anyway, I found another sweater today that may do the trick. Since I'd been thinking about it and had previously decided to wait until I had a lot of items today seemed to be the day to get a Kohl's charge card. They were having a big sale anyway which inspired me to start making a few selections. Opening a card gave me extra savings today as well as the fact that they had scratch cards (mine was for 20% off)so I did really good all around. The only bad part is that it took longer to get checked out and my hips and back started hurting before I could get out of the store.
I have a limited amount of time to shop regardless of whether it's groceries, clothes, garden center...it doesn't matter. I just can't stand up but a short time before the hurt comes. If I can't sit down a couple of minutes to relieve it then it starts shooting down my leg. Add that to the pinched neck and numb arm and I'm a force to be reakoned with!
Back to my story, I did get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, things for Christmas today. Now where was that wrapping paper?
I was off work yesterday for the holiday and Mom and I went out for awhile until we both were too tired and beelined for home. It doesn't take us long to be "over it" and ready to fold. We went by Penneys and the Salvation Army Thrift Store, which Mom had never been to before. We had lunch at Red Lobster and Danny got to enjoy the leftovers.
Apparently work follow the school system when it comes to holidays for the most part. I didn't find out until I was leaving church on Sunday. But Danny had to work so that was a bummer. I missed having him here, altho I'm sure he probably didn't notice. We only have Thursdays together all day and usually go out and do errands together and have lunch. I'm here half days Wednesday and Friday, but he still prefers to think I'm not around and we both do our own thing, he in the shop and me on the computer.
I'm hoping we can finally move the greenhouse soon. Danny's been working on getting the stakes out of the ground. The ground is so hard he had to wet it and let it soak in to pry the stakes out. We want to move the greenhouse beside my office.
When we put it out by the woods everything seemed like a good idea, until we lifted a canvas on the floor and found several snakes in there. Every since that day I've rarely gone inside. See, my running gear doesn't work much anymore, so I'm not going anywhere that is dead-end.
I used my computer program to move the greenhouse all around the yard and we found the best spot next to my office. Plus it'll be easier to run electric and water to it. The photo shows the virtual move.
Some times I wish I'd never gotten the darn thing. It's been here so long and I've never really had a chance to use it. U had surgery after we got it for 2 years. We had to move it when we bought the shed beside the shop. I guess since the electric was already out there it made it easy to light up the shed. (With the days short now that's a plus since he often has to feed the dogs in the dark). If I don't get to use it this time then I'll sell it and be done with it. Every time Brad comes over he asked me about it.
I'd like to grow the common annuals like geraniums, petunias, vincas; maybe do a few herbs. I think we might put a herb garden in part of the space that the pool took up. They need full sun and have been doing ok beside the garage. Full sun might kick them up a notch. And I love lavendar. A dream come true.
