Just an Update

Sunday I bought a new LG widescreen monitor to replace mine that quit. Thinking about it made me realize I had little to lose by shipping my old Acer to the manufacturer and seeing if it could be fixed. I'd been told by several techs that it was a lost cause and more trouble and cost than it was worth, but I found out I had a 3 year warranty on it. So I decided to give it a go. I went to their site and entered my data. They issued me a case number and instructions on shipping. So I guess they didn't have a problem with it. (Maybe Dan will get a new monitor out of this). To sweeten the pot I found out that UPS gives a shipping discount of 15%. That was cool too. I'm only out $15 if they can't fix it. Worth a try, don't you think?

Mom went to get her cardiopulmonary test done yesterday. They'd scheduled her 3 other times and each time something came up, like a broken machine. This time was a go. Maybe it will help find out why she gets short of breath. They've already said she doesn't have allergies or asthma. Gotta be something. Once we know then maybe we can get something done to f ix it.

Get this - while we were there Mom told the therapist that I'd done a cookbook and the lady gave me her address so I could mail her one! We sold a cookbook at the hospital!

Mom loves Chinese food. Yesterday after I shipped the monitor we went around the corner to a little Chinese place for lunch. We'd never eaten at this little "take out" place before; just, a few tables and chairs, but mostly folks coming in and picking up to eat elsewhere. They had great food

The day before, Tuesday, I went to fix BJ's computer. I'm not sure what had happened; it took 2 hours to get things right again. It was so slow. When I left BJ was scanning in some photos. I had introduced her to PaperPort 9 a while back and this time was able to sit her down and teach her some tricks about using it. She has several photo programs on her computer, most tied to places trying to sell you something. I told her Paperport could do everything she wanted without all the aluring ads. The only limits are from the size of the printer, not the program.

Dan isn't feeling great this morning. I think it's the leftover Chinese food he ate last night. But then again, he gulps it down and forgets he has a smaller stomach from having surgery a year or so back. After he gets his motor going we're supposed to go to Sam's Club today and stop by the bank, and do other mundane errands.

Melissa is coming home tomorrow for the weekend; Rob, too. It'll be great to see them both again. I'm hopeful that they'll get here in time for Happy Hour on Friday evening. It should be good.
