It's YARD SALE Time Again!

By the look of things, it's officially Yard Sale season again. There are signs everywhere, along the roads, stapled to all the poles, flapping in the breeze. There are so many it's hard to chose which ones to go to. But Danny and I decided to go to a couple this morning. There was a big community sale up Indian River Road; Lindsey and I went last year. It didn't have as many as last year but we still managed to find a couple of treasures:
    • I found a man with free Rose of Sharon trees, small but free. I took 2. I'm thinking they are a different color than the 2 I already have in the back yard. Hummingbirds love them!
    • I found 2 more craft books for my online store, both on painting furniture, which is all the rage now. I guess people want to pioneer it. I went through the same process 20 years ago. The old "what goes around, comes around" cycle.
    • I bought a lovely queen size quilt for $5. I'm going to put it on the grandma bed in the extra room. The colors will look lovely and it's bright and cheery.
    • I made a deal with a lady for a new box set of copper garden tags. She wanted $2., I offered $1. She then countered that if I paid the $2 she would throw in the 5 Grill Buddy sets. Each had 8 pieces per box. Dan said he'd like them: they're for keeping the sauce from getting all over the place.
We stopped down the road at a sale on Blackwater. I found out that the man was someone I knew when I worked at Phoenix Marine (in fact his dad had owned the company so I knew them both). He and his wife moved in October to, I believe, Ethel Jones' house near Arlene and Marie's old house.
We found goodies there too. I bought an elliptical exerciser and when we went back with Dad's truck to pick it up Dan bought a Sony TV to replace the one that blew up last week in the attic. Dan also bought 2 large boxes of tools for $20. A little while ago he came to update me: at first glance there must be over $400 worth of tools in those boxes. I'm sure that figure will grow as Dan does a deeper investigation. We had a great time and got back home before 10:30 so we've still got the whole day ahead of us to explore our new treasures.
