The Weekend!

It's been different getting to this point, I must say! Let's see, I switched my day off this week from Wednesday to Thursday so I could drive Mom to the doctors' offices (she had 2 appointments). I made my follow-up from getting lab work done earlier that morning, so we went to 3 doctors in all.

We met Lindsey for lunch at the Freemason Abbey. Lindsey's 1st time, my 2nd. While there we see "home" folks, the Baums who had been to a funeral in Norfolk. It was a busy, but good day. Mom doesn't have to go back for 3 weeks now to check on her foot surgery progress; she and I are both healthy.

Dan was off Wednesday anyway, but it was sweeter since it was the first day of deer season. No, he didn't get one (last year got an 8 pointer), but Daddy got a first day 4 pointer! Congrats Daddy!

I had put off getting gas on Wednesday after work, thinking I'd get it cheaper when Mom and I went off Thursday, but I drove Mom's car. I left early for work today thinking to get some, but the lines were too long. Says I to myself, "I'll get it at 2pm when there won't be so many people." I checked the gasbuddy.com site and found out gas is $3.29 at 5 stations in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach today. Of course none were close enough to me. Duh! So I stopped by my corner BP so I could use my card.

I'm standing there pumping gas, there's only 2 cars there at the pumps. Suddenly I hear a crash and look a behind me to see a car has almost driven into the building. I watch as one of the support columns is taken out and all this wood and ceiling plywood comes falling down over the car and in front of the doors to the building.

The driver starts backing up away from the building, the crumpled plastic trash can, and all the crap, but he doesn't get far. His wheels are stuck now between the sidewalk and the cement block in front of his parking spot. Bummer. I finished up gassing and hurried over to see if he is ok. The elderly man has handicap plates on his Mercedes or BMW (I can't remember which). He says he's ok and is trying to use his cell phone. His car is smoking some and all the fluids are all over the sidewalk. No fire so I guess fluid spills were causing the steamy smoke.

In the meantime a manager (India born) comes out and seeing the guy ok, starts moving boards from in front of the door. What a mess. I finish going inside the store to get my receipt. I don't even remember if I finished getting all my gas! All the ladies are shook up. I'm shook up - I just wanna get the hell outta there!
Oh, did I mention that Maggie left me off work early today so I left 30 minutes early. I guess it was meant to be!
I now have 75 items listed on my Bonanzle logo booth. I love that place. Pretty much everyone else there does too! It's growing fast. I have posted a few comments in the discussion boards and have been placed as a "favorite" booth by some fellow sellers and received 1 recommendation already.
