A New Resident

This morning we had a visitor; make that two because one was reluctant.possum 007 This poor guy (I think gal) was acting cold, not moving much, would go a little way and sit a while shivering before changing spots again. She got almost to the deck steps and didn’t really pay me much mind as long as I was quiet. Her buddy showed up just in passing as he went along the woods edge; we think he went into the woods path.

After it warmed up a bit the little lady sniffed the air several times before making her way to the possum tree on the left side of the hammock. A few years ago there was a nest inside. I guess she smelled “possum” scent still lingering or else, maybe she grew up there. She probably spent at least an hour circling the tree base, sometimes heading up to where the entrance was, about 3’ high, before coming back down. Right now we don’t know where she is but I bet we see her again soon.
I wonder if we’ll be growing baby possums this year?
