Vacation 2010 Day 4

Thru Kansas and into Colorado! Finally! You will see by my photos from today that there is little to look at besides the rolling ground, trains, trees that have been decimated by years of high wind and tornadoes, and cattle. Oh yeah, there was this one place in Mullinville where the guy makes Whirlygigs. (Dan actually pulled over for me to get pictures of those – some big idea about making some himself: we’ll see!)

We went from Iola KS to Lamar CO. We gained another hour as we got into CO so instead of it being 10:15pm (which I’m feeling) it’s actually a little after 8pm. We’re watching about the tornadoes in MN. We kept watching clouds building way over there. We sure picked the right route to come out on, I know that!!!

Other than riding and looking at weird stuff the highlight of today was a visit to the Old West in Dodge City. Yep, Mr. Dillon had his picture up there, along with Chester and Festus. It was really nice; we had a tour guide just to ourselves so we actually stayed a lot longer than we would have, but we also learned a lot more.

We’re about 400 miles or so from Claude so we’re heading into Loveland tomorrow.
