We left Lamar CO about 8 local time this morning after having our continental breakfast. We pushed extra last night to go to the next biggest town, so it was almost dark when we arrived and we were very tired. But today we didn’t have to go as far…only a little over 400 miles. Destination today: Claude and Betty’s house!
In the part of Colorado we drove this morning things are few and far between. The flat land changed into craggy land, then into rolling hills. I saw a white cross on top of a hill and tried to take a picture. The vastness of how far you can see eluded me…I just couldn’t capture it with my little camera. So I have a few photo attempts in my collection.
On our approach to Denver I saw a cloud line. I strained to see if they were actually mountains with these pathetic little travel binoculars. Yep! Finally I could see the outline of the Rocky Mountain Range! All across the horizon there were gigantic mountains. You have to strain to see in the pics. And by the time we were close we were also in heavy Denver traffic. No time for pictures. Traffic was everywhere, with 5 interstates coming together at one point.
We arrived at the Senior Jordan residence in record time, so much that they weren’t home!! They had gone to lunch and hadn’t expected us so quick! So we all piled into Claude’s car and headed to Subway so Danny & I could grab a sandwich!
I tried to take a nap after we looked at Claude’s Arizona photos. Now, we have just finished supper: beef and veggie shish-kabobs, crescent rolls, salad, and Betty’s famous blue berry cream cheese crumb cake dessert. That’s more of a description rather than the actual name. Betty says she always gets compliments at church when she takes it to potluck dinner. So good!
That’s where things stand now! I’m looking forward to not having to get up and pack tomorrow morning. Not sure where we’ll go yet, but it’ll be great! Have a good day wherever you are too!
